The family of a local man who tragically died following an assault in Tamworth have paid tribute to him.
Dennis Whiston, 73, of Tamworth, suffered an injury to his head after been assaulted on Hayle, Belgrave, at about 7.10pm on Friday 31 October.
He was taken to hospital but sadly died on Tuesday 4 November.
In a tribute to Dennis, his family said: “We would like to express our thanks for all the wonderful messages, cards and flowers we have received in memory of Dennis.
“Words cannot express how much Dennis was loved and respected as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
“We kindly ask that people respect our privacy and give us time to mourn our loss without constant speculation on social media about the circumstances of his passing.”
A 15-year-old boy, from Tamworth, was arrested on suspicion of section 18 – wounding. He was bailed with conditions while our investigation continues.
